CIMB Research maintains Cypark’s target price at RM2.78

KUALA LUMPUR: CIMB Equities Research is maintaining its target price of RM2.78 for Cypark Resources after it reported lower-than-expected earnings were due to startup costs for its new renewable energy (RE) capacity.

The research house said on Thursday Cypark's FY10/13 net profit was below its and consensus expectations, accounting for only 81% and 85% of full-year estimates, respectively.

“Despite the disappointing results, Cypark remains an Add as we remain positive on its longer term outlook, underpinned by more RE capacity coming up.

“Our valuation methodology is still based on sum-of-parts (SOP), using 4.6% WACC and 3% terminal growth rate. We expect further increases in RE capacity, which could lead to higher RE sales to Tenaga, to act as a catalyst for the stock,” it said.

CIMB Research said Cypark’s core EPS rose 21.6% on-year. The FY10/13 revenue grew by 10.9% on-year to RM217.1mil, thanks to higher revenue from environmental engineering (+4%) and RE services, which grew by fourfold to RM21.2mil from RM5.3mil in FY12.

However, the group’s landscaping and maintenance revenues declined by 4% and 0.4% on-year, respectively, due to lesser work done.

Cypark’s environmental engineering division's revenue grew, driven by the various RE-related projects that it undertook during the year. As a result, total operating costs also grew by 2.6% on-year to RM158mil.

CIMB Research said the fourfold growth in its RE revenue was mainly due to the increase in its export capacity of green electricity to Tenaga to 22.3MW in FY13, which was almost three times higher than FY12's 8MW.

“We expect the RE revenue growth momentum to persist in FY14 as Cypark continues to expand its RE capacity moving forward.

“Cypark expects to secure additional RE quota in the future as the government aims to increase the generation capacity from RE sources to 5%-6% of total generation capacity by 2015, from around 2% currently. This augurs well for Cypark as it is one of the largest RE players in the country,” it said.
